Each year brings new opportunities. The same can be said in the world of marketing. New opportunities to reach a target market arise or can be generated. In this article by info.crib.com, it explores some new trends that can be utilized or observed this year to get ahead of the competition.
Let’s review some of these trends and see what might best fit our needs. For example, security risks increase with the new year. The trend right now is to “be in the managed service provider (MSP) business now. From Comcast’s purchase of Masergy, to Google’s Mandiant acquisition, large and complex vendors see the value of entering the MSP space. Even Microsoft is getting in on the action with its own Microsoft Security Expert…” (2023 Trends and Predictions for Observability
and Security, 2023). When companies turn to using third party MSPs to mange their security for them, that now adds an extra level of risk as this third party’s security must be top notch as well.

Another new trend is the risk of costs from cloud based services. As is the trend, companies store a great deal of data inside cloud platforms. This becomes risky due to the cost. Instead, having “…An observability data strategy, designed around controlling cloud costs, becomes an essential component in restoring visibility and controlling cloud costs into 2023 and beyond…With an observability data strategy guiding your FinOps initiatives, you can increase visibility before costs spiral out of control…” (2023 Trends and Predictions for Observability and Security, 2023).
This downward spend on cloud services could potentially turn companies to engage in anti-competitive behavior. For example, companies could lower their prices when customers sign on long term. This allows cloud providers to continue to keep their operating costs down. Also, corporations could raise costs that enables a consumer to do business with the competition and lastly, a company could use their own data from their cloud platform to know undercut the competition.
The aforementioned trends tend to lean more to fright more than hope of the future in digital marketing analysis. The heart of the matter is this: the more data that is available to us, the more powerful we can be. The variable between one competitor to another is what they do with the data. Do they learn to enable a better sgtrategy to reach their target market or do they use data to undercut the competition and leave their data available for easy hacking with a lack of security. Cloud platforms pose risk to both costs and data governance. The trend growing to move away from this could remain until a new data warehouse solution is in place. Anyone heard of blockchains? Now that’s the next trend…
