What type of consumer are you? I am an individual consumer, meaning I shop for myself and my family. Corporations have purchasing departments in which they utilize a team to purchase items to use for large project, or as raw material for their finished good.

What Influences Your Buying Decisions and How? My physiological state as I shop (example: if I am hungry while at the grocery store I may buy more food and snacks I don’t need). I shop with my moods sometimes. I want my daughter to be happy during quarantine so I bought from Amazon a race car, a Nintendo Switch and a hoverboard (in separate occasions of course). These are all emotional responses. As far as choosing between brands, I weigh options between the following: familiarity, price, word of mouth by asking friends / family as well as people knowledgeable in the industry (example: ask a HVAC repair tech which brand of hot water heater is best in their opinion. I don’t tend to read reviews. One can get lost in reviews between the positive and negative ones. I do look at the overall star rating, though, but that’s not part of my final decision – making (behavioral responses).

Which stage actually leads to your purchasing decisions? My purchasing decisions are made in advance and thus through purchase activities. I will gather info from sources such as other people, the web and my own personal feelings of a product based on my own experience.
When making a buying decision, how are you influenced by marketing research and marketing design? I am influenced by market research and designs through a multitude of aspects. Social media and the web itself plays a major role in my buying decisions made. To that extent, the marketing campaigns and the research conducted prior to that have either persuaded or dissuaded me to buy the product.
Do you experience any post-purchase behavior? My post purchase behavior consists of disposing it properly (recycle or not). My wife is now reselling some of our previous purchases through various marketplaces. We are responsible consumers and dispose of contents accordingly. However, what we do with it when we are done has no bearing on which product to purchase.
